The concept for the project has been developed by Mr K. Walker, who runs the Firewalker Fitness and Martial Arts Centre in Wolverhampton. He is a former social worker with ten years of experience, specialising in child protection and working with families with complex needs. He previously managed a team of 22 social workers in this field. Today he runs two gyms and an 85 place day nursery, rated outstanding by Ofsted. In his work, he has seen many examples of childhood obesity and believes much more can be done to address this issue.
Mrs K .Reynolds is a retired primary school teacher employed by Wolverhampton city council for 22 years, retiring in 2013. During her time as a teacher, Mrs K. Reynolds was involved in many additional training courses including: safeguarding, together with children and was an integral part of many healthy eating and lifestyle projects within school.
Mr D. Wollace currently works for an organisation within Wolverhampton called Base 25, this organisation is a charity and company limited by guarantee operating for 14 years. Mr D. Wollace is a key part of Base 25 providing counselling services for young people from the age of 11-25, with expertise around anger management.
Project Manager: – Nardhia Kidd-Walker
The project will be led by Nardhia Kidd-Walker, a weight management specialist with a keen interest in tackling childhood obesity. Passionate about health, nutrition and wellbeing, after the completion of her Sport and Exercise science degree, Nardhia went on to complete her Post Graduate certificate in Obesity Management to really encourage lifestyle change amongst our local community. With experience in both private health and physical fitness, Nardhia will be ensuring that each and every individual involved within the project will receive the upmost health and wellbeing rewards.
Mentor Manager: – Joby Clayton
Joby started coaching children in Wolverhampton Amateur Boxing Club when in 1990, he developed his skills as both a life mentor and a boxing coach during those early years as he worked with people from all walks of life and soon was working with all ages and abilities. With the opening of Firewalker Fitness and Martial Arts it allowed Joby to pool together lots of his interests and abilities and broaden the range of people who could benefit from those skills. He ran a successful weight management class for many years as well as being instrumental in developing the culture of many of the classes, programmes, and personal training within Firewalker Fitness and Martial Arts.
Nutritionist:- Breena Patel
Since graduating in 2010 with a degree in Public Health Nutrition, Breena has committed to a career as a nutrition therapist, registered with the Association of Nutrition. Breena has encouraged people to change their poor dietary behaviours and in turn eat healthy wholesome food by translating nutritional science into simple practical steps. Passionate about driving healthier active lifestyles to the forefront of Wolverhampton, Breena specialises in weight management programmes including maintaining blood sugar, body fat % and hypothyroid.
Local Chef: – Dietmar Latsuke
Dietmar has had a lifelong appreciation of food and fascination with cooking which has led to the setup of several successful food enterprises, ensuring the enjoyment of good food accessible to a broad demographic. The growing challenges to health due to the obesogenic food culture prevalent within the West Midlands, has made Dietmar passionate about offering healthy food choices in all of his own restaurants as well as promoting a healthy and balanced mental attitude to food. As Head Chef and Director at Latuske’s, Wolverhampton; Dietmar believes that learning the core concepts of cooking are something that everyone can attain and utilise. Latuske’s is a continental style eatery offering an eclectic menu that combines vegan, vegetarian, and meat dishes from around the world that is popular amongst the local community, as well as with visiting consumers. Latuske’s core ethos is to ensure that all food is made fresh, full of flavour and cooked from scratch on-site.

Firewalker Fitness and Martial Arts has hand-picked most of their personal trainers and instructors. They came to Firewalker as members first and experienced, enjoyed and understood the culture that the special club radiates. Firewalker then trained and educated them, giving them the relevant qualifications but more importantly the understanding of how to bring the best out of each individual. Friendly yet disciplined and respectful, fun loving yet willing to put in hard work, are key elements of what makes Firewalker instructors so successful.
